Rémi Bourgeot

I am an economist and engineer. My research focuses on the interplay between monetary stability and technological development, with a particular emphasis on the implications of the globalization crisis and geopolitical conflicts.
With this website, I aim to link technological progress and civic conversation. Between knowledge (ἐπιστήμη) and will (Θέλημα) — or, in other words, science and conscience — the name Epistelem is a nod to the Abbey of Thélème, the utopia imagined by François Rabelais in 1534.
I am also an Associate Fellow at the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS). I regularly appear in the French and international media (France 24, BBC World News, Al Jazeera, etc.), and I write opinion pieces for leading French newspapers.
Over the years, I have analyzed a wide range of industries, especially semiconductors. Besides, my passion for math and linguistics informs my analysis of AI and its impact on society.
I am a graduate of France’s Higher Institute for Aeronautics and Space (ISAE-SupAéro), I hold a master’s degree from the Toulouse School of Economics and a my PhD from the School for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS) in Paris.
