After completing his studies in aerospace engineering (ISAE-SupAéro) in 2007, Rémi Bourgeot received a Master’s degree in econometrics from the Toulouse School of Economics in 2008 and later a PhD in monetary economics from EHESS in Paris in 2019, both with highest honors.

From 2008 to this day, he has been leading a career as an economic and technology expert with top think tanks and research firms. Meanwhile, he also worked in the asset management industry, from 2011 to 2014, as an investment strategist specialized in global fixed income and currency markets.

His approach addresses the combined challenges of monetary stability and industrial/technological development, both in advanced and emerging economies. He has coauthored three academic books on Europe’s political economic and industrial model.

In addition to his close monitoring of macro-financial conditions and monetary policies, he has been analyzing an array of industrial sectors over the years, including energy, electronics (with a focus on semiconductors), aerospace, and health.

His combined monetary and technological inclination has helped him to develop a particular expertise in the field of digital currencies, both cryptocurrencies and CBDCs. He addresses in particular the issues of digital sovereignty, from a technological and political/regulatory point of view at the European level.

He regularly appears in the French and international media (France 24, BBC World News, Al Jazeera, BFMTV, France Info, LCI, Deutsche Welle…) and writes opinion pieces for France’s main newspapers (Le Figaro, Les Echos) to comment on economic and technological developments.

His hybrid approach is based on political economy, technology monitoring and statistics. He has recently trained in the main machine learning techniques, and further investigates neural networks.
